Ten found guilty of cyber-bullying directed at Brigitte Macron

A Paris court has ruled against ten people for carrying out the online harassment of Brigitte Macron, the wife of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.
The defendants faced charges of disseminating false claims regarding her gender identity and sexual orientation, in addition to making hurtful comments about the pair's significant age difference.
The court handed down suspended prison sentences of a maximum of eight months to the convicted individuals. The full ruling has yet to be released.
A longstanding conspiracy theory alleging that Brigitte Macron is a transgender woman has existed since her husband's initial election in 2017.
This recent ruling in France coincides with the Macrons pursuing a defamation lawsuit in the US against political commentator Candace Owens, who has also voiced analogous false narratives about the Brigitte Macron's identity.
Their lawsuit alleges that Owens brushed aside all credible evidence that refuted her assertions choosing instead to amplify the voices of notorious conspiracy peddlers.
Owens has regularly repeated these claims on her digital program and social networks, and in March 2024 proclaimed that she would bet her whole career on her conviction that Mrs. Macron was born a man.
Brigitte Macron initially encountered her current spouse when she worked as an educator at his lycée.
The pair tied the knot in 2007, when the future French president was 29 and she was in her mid-50s.
