'People are intimidated' - the reasons 'powerhouse' Arsenal are the team to beat.

The evidence is undeniable why Arsenal are now many people's top picks to claim the Premier League in the current campaign.

Look at their performances against Fulham and Crystal Palace compared to those same matches last season.

The Gunners have defeated all of them this time around, but lost 10 points across those games as they dropped off in the title race in the prior campaign.

Impenetrable Defense

Arsenal's defensive solidity is a key reason why they are appearing strong to at last realize their title ambition.

They rank top for shutouts (6), goals allowed (3), shots faced (72), quality opportunities against (19) and expected goals against (5.3).

The center-back duo of Gabriel and William Saliba is arguably the finest in the league, with Arsenal maintaining a clean sheet in six of their first nine games.

Set-Piece Expertise

Their danger from dead balls is widely recognized, but opposition teams still struggle to contain the Gunners from these situations.

They have notched 11 times from set-pieces in the league, a couple extra than any other side, with 69% of their goals originating from these situations.

"Arsenal can do a bit of everything now. The whole team has a fear factor. People are just wary of them and it is excellent to see."

Title Claims

What is particularly remarkable about Arsenal's beginning to the campaign is they have also faced Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United away from home and Manchester City at home - and are still leading by four at the top.

While they keep winning, their historic competitors are struggling. This marks the first time at this point of the season since 1992 that none of Manchester City and United, Liverpool or Chelsea are in the Premier League top four.

The pressure was on manager Mikel Arteta at the beginning, having invested around £250m on eight summer acquisitions in search of that long-awaited first title since 2004.

But the spending has so far proven successful in style, with his side second top scorers in the league and having the strongest defense, despite multiple injuries.

  • Shutouts in each of their last three Premier League games
  • Nearly 6.5 hours without letting in a goal
  • Only three goals in 12 games across various contests

Former players and experts have characterized Arteta's men as a "powerhouse, looking difficult to stop" with the whole club now performing with confidence and determination.
